Konstsamfundet

The association Föreningen Konstsamfundet r.f. was founded in 1940 by Mr. Amos Anderson, businessman and cultural patron. In his will, the association Konstsamfundet was regarded as his only legatee.

Konstsamfundet fulfills its purpose by operating the Amos Anderson art museum, which 2018 reopened as the Amos Rex art museum in a new building in Helsinki city center. According to the will and wish of our founder Amos Anderson, Konstsamfundet is as well to operate the Söderlångvik museum in Amos Anderson’s former summer residence in Dragsfjärd, Southwest Finland.

Konstsamfundet’s main purposes, according to the statutes, are to support arts and different fields of culture for the Swedish speaking Finns in our society. We are providing grants for fine arts, publications, music and theater. Supporting vocational education and training, as well as the teaching of applied sciences, is likewise one of the main tasks. Konstsamfundet is also supporting newspapers and magazines published in Swedish. All grants are to be written in Swedish and applied through the electronical application system. The application periods for the public grants are in February and September.
